Department of Veteran's Affairs 10th and 11th Floor Renovation

Project Description: SEG managed a significant renovation on the 10th and 11th floors of the Veterans Affairs Central Office (VACO) building for the Office of the General Counsel (OGC), modernizing office functionality while maintaining operational continuity through a phased construction plan that included relocating personnel to swing spaces as needed. Given the building's historic status on the National Register of Historic Places, all updates were reviewed by the GSA Regional Historic Preservation Office to preserve the architectural integrity of the 1919 structure with its Italian Renaissance detailing. A major focus of the project involved fire safety upgrades to meet GSA PBS P100 and NFPA standards, including enhanced sprinkler and fire alarm systems integrated into the existing infrastructure, with new wiring installed in metal conduit to meet NFPA 72 requirements. Detailed inspections and tests, overseen by GSA fire protection engineers, ensured that all systems complied with safety codes, providing optimal fire protection in this historic facility.

Project Location: Washington, DC
