As a Senior Structural Engineer at SEG, you will play a pivotal role in independently leading and contributing to various aspects of structural engineering projects. This role involves not only the execution of structural analyses, designs, and coordination but also active involvement in construction administration activities. You will be a key participant in advancing our technological capabilities and supporting the professional development of our team members.
Senior Structural Engineer Key Responsibilities:
Independently perform detailed structural analyses and designs using advanced software and methodologies.
Develop construction drawings for structural rehabilitation projects, ensuring technical adequacy and compliance with project requirements.
Ensure designs align with project requirements, considering load-bearing capacity, stability, and safety.
Prepare accurate calculations, drawings, and specifications for structural components.
Collaborate with architects, contractors, and stakeholders to develop comprehensive design solutions.
Develop construction drawings for structural rehabilitation projects (e.g., existing buildings, bridges, support structures, earth retaining walls and slope stabilization, roofing systems).
Assess structural condition of facilities to develop recommendations for necessary repairs and modifications.
Develop engineering project scopes to ensure projects are justifiable and support the mission and operational requirements of the command.
Review engineering design and reports at various stages of project design to ensure technical and functional adequacy.
Integrate structural designs into overall project plans, working closely with other professionals.
Perform site visits and inspections to assess structural integrity and compliance with design specifications.
Address and resolve any structural challenges that arise during the construction phase.
Manage major and minor design work from beginning to end, directing the preparation of calculations, drawings, and specifications.
Assist with proposal preparation, contract reviews, and project work plans and budgets.
Stay updated on changes in structural engineering codes and industry standards.
Ensure designs comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and standards.
Review engineering designs and reports at various stages of project development.
Clearly communicate complex engineering concepts to team members and stakeholders.
Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
Coordinate with specialty consultants and review engineering plans and specifications.
Stay informed about emerging technologies and applications in structural engineering.
Qualifications:
Masters degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Permanent Residence or US Citizen
7-15 years of experience in structural engineering.
Proficient in utilizing advanced structural analysis and design software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro).
Thorough understanding of building codes and regulations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead projects.
Proven experience in mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
Thorough understanding of material and means & methods of structural rehabilitations.
Passion for staying informed about emerging trends and technologies in structural engineering.
Proactive approach in identifying and implementing innovative solutions.
Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
